Who We Are

We Clear the Brush, Then Shape the Ground

Phillips Land Services is a land clearing company serving Pleasant View and the towns around it. We work mostly for homeowners and landowners, small farms included. Some want an overgrown lot opened up. Others want a pasture back from the brush that took it over.

Our main line of work is forestry mulching. A mulcher head on the front of our compact track loader grinds brush and trees where they stand. It handles trees up to about 6 to 7 inches across, and the mulch stays where it falls.

Once the brush is down, the same track loader shapes the ground. We level yards and building sites, and we cut in new gravel driveways or refresh old ones. In winter, the track loader handles snow removal on parking lots.

Why Choose Phillips Land Services

Land Clearing, Forestry Mulching and Dirt Work Around Pleasant View

Mulched on the Spot

The mulcher head turns brush and small trees into mulch right on your land. The cleanup is part of the clearing.

Clearing and Grading Together

The track loader that clears the brush also grades the ground and spreads the gravel. One company takes the land from brush to graded ground.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Land Clearing or Forestry Mulching?

The questions we hear most from landowners between Nashville and Clarksville. If yours is not here, call or text and we will answer it.

Call (931) 265-1151

What land clearing services do you offer?
Our main line is forestry mulching for overgrown lots and wooded acreage. We also do brush clearing, bush hogging, land grading and dirt work. Site preparation, gravel driveways, storm damage cleanup and shed demolition are part of it too. In winter, we offer snow removal for parking lots and private drives.
How much does land clearing cost?
We price each job after we look at the land. Acreage and brush thickness drive most of the price, and tree size or steep ground adds to it. The quote comes in writing before any work starts. Our guide to land clearing costs per acre in Tennessee lays out published market ranges.
How big a tree can you clear?
Our forestry mulcher head grinds trees up to about 6 to 7 inches across, along with the brush around them. Bigger trees stay standing. Taking one down is work for a tree service, and stump grinding belongs to another trade.
What happens to the brush and trees you clear?
The mulcher head grinds them where they stand, and the mulch stays on the ground. That spares you a brush pile, which Cheatham County's solid waste sites do not take. Burning a pile from October 15 through May 15 takes a permit from the Tennessee Division of Forestry. We haul debris off only when a job calls for it, like a shed demolition.
Should I have my land mulched or bush hogged?
Bush hogging cuts tall grass and light brush in fields and pastures. Forestry mulching takes on thick brush and trees up to about 6 to 7 inches. A field grown up in thick brush and young trees needs the mulcher first. After that, bush hogging once or twice a year keeps the field cut back.
What size jobs do you take on?
We take on jobs from a few hours of machine time up to clearing a whole property. Most jobs are residential, on home lots and acreage. Tell us what the land looks like now and what you want it to look like.
Do I need a permit to clear or grade my land?
Pleasant View and Cheatham County each have a grading permit, and other counties set their own rules. The codes office for your land says whether your job needs one. Clearing or grading an acre or more for construction also needs the state's construction stormwater permit from TDEC. Grading counts as digging under Tennessee law, which requires notice to Tennessee 811 at least three working days ahead.
Can you get a lot ready for a new home or barn?
Yes. For site preparation, we clear the footprint and the drive, then rough grade a level pad. A gravel drive gives trucks a way in while the build goes up. The foundation and the septic system belong to other trades.
What areas do you serve?
Pleasant View, in Cheatham County, sits at the center of our service area, which runs about 30 miles around it. That takes in Clarksville, Springfield, White House, Dickson and the north and west side of Nashville. Ashland City, Coopertown, Kingston Springs, White Bluff and Goodlettsville are in it too.
